Solder Fume Extractors are an essential solution for removing fumes from soldering applications. While properly soldering may present very few to little safety concerns, soldering smoke is a hazardous respirable fume that is generated from the process of melting down the flux* past its boiling point. Due to the vast majority of the particles released in the airstream being under .5 microns in size, a filtered air ventilation system that can filter down to that size of micron is what would be necessary to ensure the safety and health of the solder applicant. The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 states that "employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees." It is the employee’s right to inform the employer of workplace health hazards like poor ventilation during soldering.
